hmmm..Waffle Party!

Okay...so here I am blogging for the second time ever....And I find myself wondering why I do this...
I know it's hard to keep in touch with family...but really do we have to resort to communication via the internet? Is it so terribly hard to get in a car and drive to your freinds or family...maybe even call them. Why text or email them? Writen words can be taken so many different ways and not mean what you want them too...

Hm...I guess it's just me. I'm being retarded and selfish....but anyway...seems how the only person who reads this as of current (4/1/09) is Alyse...I'm going to tell you, and hope that the word spreads. I would like to have the family over for waffles at me and matt's place. Thus far the date is set for April 26th 2009 (Due to change if I have to work that day). It will be in the morning, if all goes according to plan my grandfather will be making syrup. I will be doing waffles. But we can't just let it sit at that...I would really love for everyone to help and bring something to the waffle party...I know it's been a while for you guys (Ashbridge/Brimhall/Miller/Long/Taylor Families....even longer for the Neibaur/Dean Families) to have waffles. But it's something that I've really wanted to do for the last little while. Please help me get the word out. Some of the things that I think would be important for some people to bring are:

-Hashbrowns
-Bacon
-Sausage
-Fruit
-Orange Juice
-Apple Juice
-Eggs (if you would like)
-Syrup
-Cinnimon Rolls (optional)
-Peanut Butter (Crunchy if you want it, we have creamy)
Or anything else you think would work well with Waffles.

But please let me know what you think and if you would like to come. I will be emailing everyone so if you could just keep it in mind. We would really like to have the families spend some time together. It's been a long time since the wedding and the families have a little more time on there hands (not by much....) so we would like you all to come.

  1. Hehe I got your email first. :P

As for the whole communication bit, well I am terribly shy when it comes to people so as a personal preference I would rather texting or emailing. It's very impersonal and I feel that I can express myself better simply because I never really talk when I am around people and get all clammed up.
As for driving, well if I like you enough (which I do like YOU enough :D) I will drive to see you but as of right now we can barely afford gas as it is... hopefully that doesn't get worse as summer progresses. Bleh.

    Have a good night hun.

  2. yeah. I know what you mean. I hope things get better for you guys. I like you enough to do that too. We're going to come up on Wednesday. We should do something just you, me, Matt, Shawn and Aryn.

  3. * snickers * If you think resorting to using blogs on the internet is bad for family communication, you should have seen Shawn and Alyse when they were dating. They texted each other on their mobile phones while sitting across the table from each other. It baffled the mind, but they liked it.

The real reason is the same as trying to touch base with anyone else. Our Neibaur family is a rich and diverse clan. We have dynamic lives that very, very rarely overlap unless we make Herculean effort. Most times it is easier to keep up with each other easier by emails. I like blogs, because they show even more individual personality and allow unrestricted freedom.

Also it means you can say as much as you need or want without being overridden by someone else talking. At family dinners, if you wanted to say something in the conversation, you better jump in and be willing to maybe talk over someone else! Here, on the internet, everyone gets their say and no one is shorted. That's an especially big deal for those of us who are on the shyer side of social, even with family.

Hope that helps make the mystery of blogging more understandable without becoming too mundane. There's a freedom and a magic about being able to express yourself that I can not find in as great a measure anywhere else.

And make sure you have so much fun at the waffle breakfast! I'm looking forward to the stories, pictures, and (my favorite part) how you feel about the whole event.

  4. So i already talked to you in person...easier for me too often. But thought I would post here too, just so you know we are reading!

Not many people look at my blog either. I really do it for the few who look and so it can be the closest thing to a journal.

I will work on the 26th, so have fun with waffles. Sounds yummy! Thanks for always being willing to feed me when I am bad about eating. Waffles sound fabuulous.
